A child has just joined my class. Where should I start with Foundations with them?
Use the Foundations for Phonics materials if they are going into Reception in September. They can slot into the sessions with their classmates, and you can pick up on any missed sounds at other times in the day.
If they have another whole year before going up to big school, just focus on developing their talk and love of books through Foundations for Language and a Love of Reading, and then start Foundations for Phonics after the summer.
