Do you teach Phase 6?
Phase 6 is taught within the programme as we teach children to read words with suffixes once they have secured the Phase 3 GPCs. Once children have graduated from the main programme, schools can follow the Year 2 programme which reviews Phase 5 and then teaches the Year 2 spelling curriculum
Any child in Year 2, who did not pass the Phonics Screening Check in Year 1, or is not fully fluent in reading words with the Phase 5 GPCs should continue to be taught phonics daily. If they have larger gaps consider using Rapid Catch-up which has a swifter pace.
