Progression

Four sounds a week may be too much. Can it be modified to the needs of the class, using consolidation time to catch up if necessary?

The rate of progress has been tested and used in schools for many years – this is the rate needed to ensure children reach age-related expectations. The daily ‘Revisit and review’ part of the lesson consolidates learning every lesson by reviewing GPCs and words from the day(s) before, and also from previous weeks and terms. The weekly ‘Review lesson’ also ensures that previous learning is reviewed systematically. The ‘Assess and review week’ every six weeks of teaching allows you to assess every child, teach to gaps in learning and make sure no child its left behind.

Our Keep-up provision which is part of the membership should be used to give extra practice to any child who is not keeping up with their peers.
