How can I create a language-rich environment for EAL pupils?
Use our Environment checklist to make sure that your environment promotes talk. In particular, make sure you keep your physical space consistent and clearly labelled with images alongside text, so that children feel secure and confident.
Include books and objects that reflect the children’s home environments to further create a sense of familiarity and safety.
This DfE blog has some useful tips on getting it right.
