How can I encourage reading at home?
We recognise that not all children get support with their reading at home. So, it is important to make sure the children can learn to read effectively during school time using our programme.
Therefore, we offer guidance for teachers to support families rather than providing homework materials.
Head over to our homework blog which offers some top tips to encourage reading at home.
Also, direct families to the ‘For parents’ area of the website for lots of videos, guidance and materials to support their children's reading at home.
Supporting parents to understand phonics and reading is more effective in the long term and contributes to children's reading progress.
Remember to support your more vulnerable children with extra practice in school.
