How can I help my children learn words with suffixes in Reception?
Great question. Start by blending the word without the suffix. Get the children to copy you. Then blend the word with the suffix and get the children to copy you. That way, the children learn to decode the word both with and without the suffix.
Watch the Reception: Reading words ending in s and Reception: Reading words ending in -s/z/ ‘How to’ videos to see this in practice.
