How can we assess GPC and oral blending knowledge with a non-verbal child?
Use images and get them to point to the correct image from a selection.
For oral blending words and GPCs, just use the grapheme cards.
Use the SEND Phase 2 assessment as this allows you to measure smaller steps of progress. For example, whether they can recognise the mnemonic, even if they can't recognise the GPC yet.
