How can we best support parents whose first language is not English?
It can reassure parents tremendously to know that, at this stage, it is better for their child to hear expert talk at home in their home language.
Many studies tell us that it is the back-and-forth talk between adults and children when they are sharing books that makes the difference to children’s language and comprehension. This impact will translate to better language and comprehension skills for their child in English.
