How do I challenge children in Year 1 in class who are already confident with the phonics I am teaching?
Programme developer, Charlotte Raby asked teacher Jess, who you will recognise from lots of our videos:
How do I challenge children in Year 1 in class who are already confident with the phonics I am teaching?
Here’s what she told me:
“We have all children in phonics lessons together so that they are all able to practise decoding skills, and how to read fluently – phonics harms no one!

Reading words: we encourage these children to read the words fluently, without overt blending.”
