How do I manage different reading speeds in the reading practice groups? Do you have any advice?

Children are likely to read at different speeds, especially in Reception. Check that your grouping is accurate – would the slower readers be more confident in an earlier stage? Ask the children who have finished to read the book a second time. Direct them to the ‘I-spy’ activity at the back of the book (Phase 2 Big Cat for Little Wandle books).
