How do I organise my word cards?
Bookmark our online look-up to see when the word is first taught.
Read our blog for great ideas from other members for how to store your cards.
We have guidance on how to organise your word cards in the video below
Schools need to buy the word cards from Collins.
There are three word cards packs for Reception: Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4. They contain all the words and tricky words for teaching in Reception.
There is one word card pack for Year 1: Phase 5. This contains the review words from Phases 3 and 4 needed to teach during Autumn 1 and all the tricky words reviewed and taught in Year 1 including those from Phases 2, 3 and 4.
We now have pre-cut, ready-to-use word cards available to purchase, as well as the older uncut cards. The ready-to-use cards are organised to every week.
We don’t have duplicate words in the standard packs in order to keep costs down, but have recently released our Review word cards, which include all duplicate cards pre-cut.
We also have created a document providing guidance for organising your cards as well as a searchable online word tool so you can find cards for review for those who don’t have them.
We do not have word cards for Reception Autumn 1 and 2 for teacher-led blending; these new and review words should be made from the grapheme cards. The words for independent reading are in the Phase 2 word card pack.
