How do I support Reception children who are not yet blending?
The Daily Keep-up Phase 2 additional blending practice planning will support most children.
For individual support, use the template ‘Phase 2: Blending and reading words – super-supported method’ found on page 7 of Individual Daily Keep-up for Reception. Watch the Phase 2 ‘How to’ video of the same name.
Remember, repeated practice is your best friend! Provide children with lots of opportunities to blend throughout the day. Use phrases such as ‘Get your b-a-g’. Ensure the children repeat the phonemes back to you before blending the word.
