How do I work out what Fluency level to start the children on?
We’re really pleased to see how many members are adopting the optional Little Wandle Fluency programme, to support the books for children in Year 2 and above who have successfully completed the whole of Phase 5.
When you’re new to the books in Year 2, the first step is to complete our Little Wandle Fluency initial assessment 1 which will determine whether a child is ready to start reading Fluency Level 1.
Even if a child is reading faster than 70WPM in this assessment, always start them on Fluency 1. If you are in Year 3 or above, please refer to the Little Wandle Fluency assessment guidance to see where to start.
