How do we assess non-verbal pupils who don’t use Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)?
All the SEND assessments have images alongside them and guidance on how to carry out the assessments with non-verbal children.
Please refer to ‘How to do the SEND assessments’ in the SEND area of the Little Wandle website to find out how to carry out initial and subsequent assessments. The document also includes guidance for assessing children whose communication method is not verbal.
