Foundations for Language – how does it work?

Foundations for Language is not a planning tool or a set of teaching resources, rather it is a framework for thinking about quality talk. The Foundations for Language programme provides training and resources based on evidence-based interaction techniques that promote high-quality adult-child interactions.

By using Foundations for Language in your setting, children will benefit from practitioners who are skilled at using high-quality interactions to develop language.

Children will become confident communicators through learning:

  • new vocabulary
  • appropriate grammatical structures
  • turn-taking in conversations.

There is training for Foundations for Language here.

Once you and your team has completed the training you can delve into the resources here.
