Is it okay to teach children the letter formation phrases as part of our ‘Tuning into sounds’ sessions?
You won’t need to use the letter formation phrases in Nursery as we don’t want you to teach GPCs in any systematic way.
Children have plenty of time in Reception for learning these.
Instead, we would encourage you to focus on describing the direction and shape of the letters as you support children one-to-one with their early writing.
Take a look at our handy blog for more guidance.
