My class are finding it really hard to retain tricky words, do you have any advice?
Our guidance for repeated practice provides lots of advice aimed at helping children to retain tricky words.
A top tip is to add tricky words to your pocket chart, making sure to focus on a couple at a time and changing them every day. This gives children repeated opportunities to see and retain these words.
Make sure you download the tricky word labels for Reception and Year 1 to add to the back of your tricky word cards. That way you'll have a handy reminder of the tricky bit as you're teaching.
