Progression

My Year 1 children have passed the Phonics Screening Check. Should they now exit the programme?

The Little Wandle progression goes above and beyond the Phonics Screening Check

The Phonics Screening Check (PSC) for Year 1 is a statutory test that checks that children can read words with specific GPCs. As a national test it ensures a certain standard of word reading. It is not a test of reading fluency or an indicator that children are ready to leave the Little Wandle programme, as it does not test the complete alphabetic code.
