SEND

Should EAL pupils follow the SEND programme?

Speaking English as an additional language is absolutely not a SEND but some EAL children may have a SEND need that is less obvious because of their limited English. Keep a close eye on any child you have concerns about.

It is important to remember that just as we would never consider all non-EAL children as one group, nor should we consider EAL children as all the same.

Every child is unique and we should always start our teaching from an understanding of their individual needs.
