Should we write ‘k’ with or without the loop?

The letter formation in our resources and formation phrases in Reception is the ‘k’ without the loop as the DfE has stated that validated SSPs should not teach cursive, but print. The ‘k’ matches all the grapheme cards, displays and is how the children will read ‘k’ in books. Once the children have clear letter formation for each letter, schools can follow their handwriting policy/programme and teach the ‘k’ with a loop, or not.
