Some of my pupils need a slightly less rapid Rapid Catch-up! Any suggestions?
Yes, here are some possible different ways to make Rapid Catch-up work for pupils who require a little more teaching or a slightly slowed-down approach:
- Spread two days of phonics over five days – ideal for children who are completely new to phonics and when you can run reading practice sessions at a separate time.
- Repeat the whole week – ideal if you can’t run the reading practice sessions at a separate time.
- Run two phonics sessions every day and the reading practice sessions at a separate time.
- For wobbly blenders: Teach additional blending practice during the reading practice sessions.
To explore these approaches further, head over to our Rapid Catch-up blog.
