How do I reach every child?
Reaching every child
We all need different amounts of practice to feel confident. Some children will need more practice than others.
- Identify wobbly blenders. These are your focus children in the whole-class phonics lessons.
- Make the most of reading practice sessions with wordless books: use the pre-read to secure GPCs and do extra teacher-led blending.
- Non-verbal learners can still learn to read and spell – they do not need to read aloud to be able to read. Use GPC cards as well as the SEND image bank to support word reading.
Read more about how you can support children who are finding it hard to master blending in our blog Everybody blend!
