What training is available to staff – how are we supported?
Online training is available for all staff all year round as part of your annual membership fee
All staff can access online on-demand training. Questions at the end of each module assess participant subject knowledge. Once all staff have completed the modules, your Reading Leader can request a summary report which will identify strengths and weaknesses across the teaching team and show recommended next steps for Professional Development.
The training programme comprises:
- Online CPD – an introduction – 6 minutes
- Module 1: Key features of effective phonics practice (and how Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised delivers) – 40 minutes
- Module 2: Consistency and how to achieve it in your school – 13 minutes
- Module 3: Key content of Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised in Reception and Year 1 – 20 minutes
- Module 4: Teaching a Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised lesson – 1 hour 1 minute
- Module 5: Application of phonics to early reading – 1 hour 6 minutes
- Module 6: Assessment – 1 hour 2 minutes
Total watch time: 4 hours, 28 minutes.
Training is supported by documents and ‘How to’ videos which model every aspect of the lessons. These videos are also available online all year round and are referred to throughout the training.
