What should I be teaching in the daily phonics lesson during assessments week?

The first thing to remember is that you should not stop teaching when assessing.

Use your AfL from your Spring teaching to identify any GPCs that your class were struggling with. For example, if your class struggled with the trigraphs air, igh and ear, copy and paste these lessons into the editable Assess and review grids and teach them in your daily phonics lessons during your assessment week.

By securing your class’s learning in the morning and assessing at another time of the day, you are making the most of your pupils’ learning time.
