Why does a love of reading matter?

Research shows that children’s attitudes towards reading is one of the strongest predictors of their later academic and life success (OECD, 2002).

Children benefit from daily sharing of high-quality stories and poems from a young age (Mol et al., 2008).

As early as possible, children should have lots of opportunities to engage with books that ignite their imaginations and immerse them in language that they wouldn’t normally be exposed to.

Positive associations with books and reading make the process of learning to read easier and more fun.
