Why is the book level on the Pupil Trends tab different from the book level suggested next to the Rapid Catch-up pathway?
The book level suggested next to the Rapid Catch-up pathway is based on the most recent Rapid Catch-up assessment, so is the most accurate based on the child’s current secure phonic knowledge.
The book level in Pupil Trends is calculated using all historical assessment data for a child, which includes Reception and Year 1 data. As always, the recommendation will only be as accurate as the data inputted into the tracker. If the Rapid Catch-up book level is higher than that suggested by Pupil trends, this might be because core programme assessments have been missed. If the Rapid Catch-up book level is lower, then this might be because a child has forgotten previously secure learning. Head to our ‘Rapid Catch-up: Next steps please!’ blog for more information.
