With Rapid Catch-up, should what the child is reading match the lessons I am teaching?
No, the correct level book for each child is worked out from the assessment. Children need to practise reading books with the GPCs and words they know and can read.
Use the Rapid Catch-up assessment spreadsheet in conjunction with the matching grid in the Assessment guidance (find it on the Assessment tab here) to match each child’s secure phonic knowledge to the appropriate book and to ensure successful reading.
